UAF’s Ocean Acidification Research Center has set up its analytical instruments on the Healy to measure ocean acidification en-route.
This year NOAA and UAF’s Ocean Acidification Research Center (OARC) have teamed up to measure ocean acidification onboard the R/V Healy. The Healy left Dutch Harbor on August 25 and has made its way through the Bering Strait and into the Chukchi Sea.
Jessica Cross, an oceanographer with NOAA’s Pacific Marine Environmental Lab, is in charge of the ocean acidification portion of the cruise. When an internet connection is available, Jessica will be tweeting about her research.

This map shows the track and location of the Healy as of Aug 31, 2017.
