AOOS Film Contest Highlight: Alaska Still Fighting

Bjorn OlsonAlaska Still Fighting was produced by Bjørn Olson, and entered in the 2014 AOOS Short Film Contest. After the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989, Mavis Mollar created large protest banners that were used in a marine context.  Twenty-five years later, on Earth Day, Mavis hung them again in the Homer harbor. This short film follows Mavis and interviews people who experienced the spill first hand.

Bjørn Olson is a lifelong Alaskan, adventurer, photographer and story teller, currently residing in Homer. “My aim as a photographer and filmmaker is to inspire adventure and solemn duty to protect our one and only biosphere.”
