Arctic Report Card

What happened in 2011? Persistent warming has caused dramatic changes in the Arctic Ocean and the ecosystem it supports. Ocean changes include reduced sea ice and freshening of the upper ocean, increased biological productivity at the base of the food chain, and loss of habit for walrus and polar bears.

The Report Card is organized by section: Atmosphere, Marine Ecosystems, Hydrology & Terrestrial Cryosphere, Sea Ice & Ocean, and Terrestrial Ecosystems. See the full report card at the NOAA website.

The NOAA Arctic Theme Page  helps you stay current on NOAA's Arctic activities. The Arctic Theme Page includes the Report Card, announcements, videos, and more about Arctic ecosystems and wildlife. NOAA also released its Arctic Vision and Strategy in 2011.
