Mid-Season Forecast Update for 2019 Yukon Chinook Run Timing
A forecast update has been issued for harvesters, managers and the public about how spring weather conditions may impact the timing of the Chinook salmon run on the Yukon River delta. The midseason forecast update reiterates that years such as this one with low spring sea ice cover are typically associated with less precise timing forecasts. Final Forecast for 2019 Yukon Chinook Run Timing
An advisory has been issued for harvesters, managers and the public about how spring weather conditions may impact the timing of the Chinook salmon run on the Yukon River delta. The final forecast is for a moderate run timing with a 50% point of June 18 which is just slightly earlier than average. AOOS RFQ Biological Data Stewardship
The Alaska Ocean Observing System received $15,000 this year from the national Integrated Observing System (IOOS) program to advance IOOS Biology through biological data stewardship activities in the AOOS region, working with regional data providers to align biological datasets to the Darwin Core standard and make them available through ERDDAP servers and the AOOS and Marine Biodiversity Observing Network Portals. AOOS is especially interested in data that contributes to our AK Harmful Algal Bloom and Ocean Acidification Networks, as well as NMFS Integrated Ecosystem Assessments. Continue reading
