In the summers of 2004 and 2009, AOOS worked together with multiple partners to conduct comprehensive oceanographic and biological studies in Prince William Sound. The primary goal of the field experiments were to evaluate regional forecast models for their effectiveness in predicting wind, waves, and ocean circulation. This major initiative involved over 15 organizations and academic institutions, and was a primary focus for AOOS. Scientists continue to learn from the results of the experiment.
