Date: Wed. Sept 21st from 10-11am.
Topic: Preliminary results of UAA’s modeling efforts to estimate the impact of hydrokinetic devices on velocity, flow, and sediment transport.
Presenter: Prof. Tom Ravens of the UAA School of Engineering
Call-in number: 1-866-779-5968 PIN 1694
Dr. Ravens’ team has developed a methodology for representing hydrokinetic devices using an bottom roughness, and have tested it on rivers. Now they’re working to apply the technique in Cook Inlet — simulating deployments of hydrokinetic devices by Fire Island where the Ocean Renewable Power Company is working.
