The University of Alaska Fairbanks is offering a three or five day “Planning for Arctic Futures” workshop on interdisciplinary scenario modeling and analysis.
This 2-part workshop provides an overview of key approaches used in developing scenarios of the possible evolution of the framework of factors that drive developments in the North. It will broadly focus on energy extraction, generation, consumption, and their consequences. The workshop approaches the topics by taking a holistic view of the interactions and the complex social-environmental context of Alaska. It addresses the network of players at the local, regional, and state level. Experts from many relevant research disciplines will be present throughout the workshop to guide discussion about Alaska's possible energy futures an the development of a general scenario framework.
