On August 24th, NOAA and the Alaska Energy Authority held a stakeholder meeting in Anchorage to discuss their project to assess the potential for tidal kinetic energy in Cook Inlet. NOAA and AEA have signed an MOU in a funded partnership. Over the next few years, NOAA will be measuring and modeling water levels and three-dimensional current, salinity, and temperature within Cook Inlet to identify regions with strong currents to determine its potential and impact for the installation of hydrokinetic systems. Around 50 people attended the meeting.
